Inpatient Coder II (Remote)

We’re seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder II to join our remote team supporting a high‑acuity, Level I Trauma academic environment. In this role, you’ll accurately assign ICD‑10‑CM, ICD‑10‑PCS, and MS‑DRG codes across a wide range of complex inpatient cases, collaborate with CDI specialists, and submit electronic queries when clarification is needed. Final date to receive applications:
March 6, 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Code diverse inpatient specialties, including trauma and critical care
  • Maintain 95% accuracy and meet productivity standards
  • Assign POA indicators and support accurate DRG assignment
  • Assist with mortality, rehab, and special case types
  • Support denial rebuttals and participate in projects
Requirements
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as an inpatient coder at an academic facility.
  • Required

    Education:

    Coding Certificate Program Completion or Associate Degree in HIM or equivalent.

    Preferred Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in HIM or equivalent.
  • Required Certifications & Licensure:
    Certified RHIA/RHIT or CCS.
What You’ll Do
  • Accurately assign ICD‑10‑CM, ICD‑10‑PCS, and MS‑DRG codes across diverse specialties (Neurology, Oncology, Ortho, Cardiology, Critical Care, OB/Newborn, Trauma, and more).
  • Partner with CDI specialists to ensure complete and accurate documentation.
  • Submit electronic queries to providers when clarification is needed.
  • Maintain 95% accuracy, meet productivity expectations, and correctly assign POA indicators.
  • Code a variety of specialized account types, including mortality and rehab cases.
  • Assist with insurance denial rebuttals and participate in special projects.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Remote, OR.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr.
