Medical Insurance Billing Specialist – General & Specialty Cardiology
Location: Tacoma, WA (Remote Eligible – WA State Residents Only)
Schedule: Full-time | Monday – Friday | Closed weekends and holidays
Work Environment: Remote

As a Medical Insurance Billing Specialist
, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the financial integrity of our outpatient cardiology services. Your work ensures timely and accurate insurance processing, supports patients through excellent billing communications, and strengthens clinic operations through compliant and detailed account management. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to collaborate across departments while deepening your understanding of medical billing in a specialty setting.
Claims & Insurance Follow-Up
- Call insurance companies to check claim status, reprocess claims, and file appeals
- Analyze aging reports and address outstanding or denied claims
- Identify trends in insurance denials and escalate as needed
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all account activity and claim communications are HIPAA-compliant
- Document every account interaction with clarity and accuracy
- Post payments and ensure proper balance allocation across accounts
Billing & Communication Support
- Adjust and resubmit claims to primary and secondary payers
- Participate in phone rotations to support incoming billing-related calls
- Coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to resolve claim-related issues
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of healthcare experience
- At least 1 year of medical billing and insurance claim processing experience
- Familiarity with CMS
1500, COB, PHI, and other medical billing terminology - Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
- Comfortable using payer websites for eligibility and claim status
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Preferred:
- Experience with EPIC or similar EMR systems
- Prior billing experience in a specialty practice (e.g., cardiology)
