The OpportunityWe are seeking a Lead
Clinical Trial Pharmacist to join a growing clinical research team in London.
This is a senior-level position with significant responsibility across pharmacy operations within clinical trials. You will play a key role in ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient management of medicines across multiple studies, while acting as a senior pharmaceutical point of contact within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee pharmacy activities across clinical trials in line with UK/EU legislation, ICH‑GCP, GMP and internal SOPs
- Act as a senior pharmaceutical contact for trial and non‑trial medication queries
- Support the safe delivery of Phase I–III clinical trials within a multidisciplinary environment
- Review protocols, pharmacy manuals and study documentation, providing regulatory and feasibility input
- Prepare pharmacy risk assessments and develop study‑specific pharmacy documentation
- Manage IMP lifecycle processes including procurement, receipt, storage, dispensing, accountability, returns and destruction
- Maintain pharmacy site files and support monitoring visits and inspections
- Contribute to MHRA and Home Office compliance activities, including controlled drug governance
- Conduct internal quality checks and ensure adherence to medicines legislation
- Oversee non‑trial medication procurement and stock management processes
- Ensure pharmacy equipment is maintained, calibrated and compliant
- Write, review and update pharmacy SOPs and quality documentation
- Support and mentor junior pharmacists and pharmacy staff
- Deliver training on clinical trial pharmacy processes
- Provide pharmaceutical care and counselling to study participants
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to maintain high‑quality pharmacy operations
- Significant experience within clinical pharmacy, ideally in a clinical trials or research setting
- Strong working knowledge of ICH‑GCP, GMP, MHRA standards and UK medicines legislation
- Experience managing IMPs within clinical research
- Previous supervisory or mentoring experience
