Job Summary and Responsibilities15% PRN differential applies for this role.
The surgical tech/scrub tech will:
- Work under the supervision of the surgeon and RN.
- Assist the surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying the sterile setup of instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical cases and passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed.
- Assist in preparing and moving patients and sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment and rooms.
- Maintain prior OR experience with Ortho/Sports Medicine cases preferred.
- Scrub on all cases.
- Surgical cases include orthopedics, total joint replacements (hips, shoulders, knees, ankles, etc.), ortho spine and sports medicine.
- Provide breaks and additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed during operations.
- Assist with room turnover and restocking for next day’s cases.
- Maintain sterile field during procedures and hand instruments to surgeons, anticipating needs.
- Maintain and update preference cards.
In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
- One year of experience in a surgical setting preferred
- Experience in a specialty field preferred
- Basic computer skills required
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required
- Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program preferred
- Current registration as a Surgical Tech is required unless performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another verified Colorado license, certification or registration
Physical Requirements - Medium Work (exert up to 50 lbs occasionally, up to 20 lbs frequently, and up to 10 lbs constantly)

The Surgery department at Ortho Colorado Hospital has 11 pre-op beds, eight OR suites, ten PACU bays, 48 inpatient beds and specializes in orthopedic surgery. Our patient mix includes spine, orthopedic procedures (hips, knees, shoulders and ankles), sports medicine, foot and ankle, hand and wrist.
Ortho Colorado Hospital provides advanced orthopedic and spine care with exceptional service to help patients achieve the best quality of life.
