Tampa General Hospital’s Cardiovascular Center has six cardiac catheterization laboratories, including two EP labs and seven interventional radiology suites in over 77,000 square-feet of dedicated space, which also has two neuro interventional suites. TGH has eight operating rooms outfitted for cardiac surgery. In addition, TGH’s Heart Valve Center includes a hybrid operating room and 160 slice CT scanner. Designed with patient comfort in mind, the 47 pre- and post-procedure rooms have private bathrooms and are equipped with internet, televisions and telephones.
The Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC) awarded its Heart Failure Certification to Tampa General Hospital for planning and organizing the delivery of care in a systematic manner that supports adherence to evidence-based guidelines and quality initiatives. TGH has also received Chest Pain (with Primary PCI) Accreditation from SCPC. TGH was most recently awarded full Atrial Fibrillation with Electrophysiology Services Accreditation status from SCPC for its expertise and commitment to quality patient care.

Atherectomy, Balloon Angioplasty, Cardiac Catheterization, Device Lead Extractions, Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (ICD), Intra-Cardiac Echocardiography (ICE), Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS), Mitral Valvuloplasty (Balloon Valvuloplasty), Radio frequency Ablation, Stenting, Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation, Cardiac Electrophysiology Studies, AAA repair, CVM repair, Cerebral Aneurysm treatment, DVT treatment, fistula grams studies, tube and filter placements, Cryoablation, and embolization.
Job Summary
Under general supervision following established policies, procedures, professional guidelines, delivers care to patient’s pre, during and post procedure. Assists physician performing procedure to include but not limited to catheterizations, interventions, and implants. Implements patient care; documents patient assessments and flow of procedure; identifies and reports situations requiring intervention; communicates goals and plan of care; assures patient rights. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the values of Tampa General Hospital and the principles of FOCUS-PDCA.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is primarily performed in patient care settings. Extensive interaction with patients, staff, physicians, family members, and visitors is required. Lifting bending, stooping, standing for long periods of time and exposure to bodily fluids is involved. Wearing of a lead apron is required. Pushing and pulling of patients and stretchers is involved. Lifting of supplies is also required.
This position has been evaluated as a Level 1 in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) definition of occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens.
Level I Positions in this category require the performance of tasks which involve exposure to blood and potentially infectious body fluids.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Education:
Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology and/or healthcare related associate degree or equivalent. Will require Cardiac Cath Lab experience and/or on the job training. BLS and ACLS Certifications. - Experience:
Hospital Cardiac Cath lab setting experience, including CVT school clinicals.
