Position: BIOMED ENG TECH 3 CLIN ENGR / BIOMED ENG TECH 2 CLIN ENGR

Overview

With minimal supervision, repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment and support systems of varying complexity at Michigan Medicine. The primary area of responsibility is whole-house coverage at the University Hospital, Children and Women's Hospital, Cardiovascular Center, Pavilion and other on-campus locations at Michigan Medicine. Responsibilities include corrective and preventative maintenance on a wide variety of medical equipment. Equipment responsibilities include but are not limited to patient monitoring systems, nurse call systems, TV systems, patient equipment, operating room equipment, and other equipment as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Work performed is documented in the work order database system called AIMS.
  • Identify and prepare parts and materials necessary for repairs and preventive maintenance on assigned devices.
  • Cross-training for other Biomedical Engineering Technicians for expanded backup support is also required.
  • Work hours are Wednesday to Wednesday, ten-hour shifts, 6:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The primary job site is at Michigan Medicine s main campus. Technicians must have a valid Michigan driver s license and be able to drive a motor vehicle.
Qualifications

BIOMED ENG TECH 3 CLIN ENGR

  • An associate degree in biomedical engineering technology or equivalent Military training is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with advanced analog and digital electronics.
  • Minimum of eight years of experience repairing and maintaining medical equipment, preferably in a hospital environment.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver s license.

BIOMED ENG TECH 2 CLIN ENGR

  • An associate degree in biomedical engineering technology or equivalent Military training is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with advanced analog and digital electronics.
  • Minimum of three years of experience repairing and maintaining medical equipment, preferably in a hospital environment.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver s license.
Work Schedule

This position is Wednesday to Wednesday, ten-hour shifts, 6:00 a.m.

- 4:00 p.m.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.

This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Union Affiliation:
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the U-M Skilled Trades Union, Inc., which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
