Job Description & How to Apply Below

If you’re an EMT who enjoys hands‑on work, values teamwork, and thrives in remote environments, Toolik Field Station is looking for you. As a Seasonal EMT, you’ll be the on‑site medical lead—providing both emergency and routine care, supporting safety across the station, and helping staff and researchers feel confident and prepared in a rugged Arctic setting.

You’ll work closely with station leadership and a consulting medical director, stay on call while on shift, lead safety trainings, and pitch in where needed to keep station operations running smoothly. This role is ideal for someone with strong judgment, clear communication skills, a calm and friendly presence, and a willingness to wear a few different hats in a close‑knit field community.

Qualities

that will help you succeed
  • Confident EMT who keeps a cool head when things get busy and stays thoughtful during quieter moments.
  • Comfortable being on call and flexible with time; willing to pitch in wherever help is needed—whether that’s leading a safety briefing, checking supplies, or lending a hand with day‑to‑day tasks.
  • Positive attitude, good judgment, and a team‑first mindset that helps everyone feel supported and safe.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current EMT‑B certification.
  • Ability to provide emergency and non‑emergency medical care in a remote field setting.
  • Strong judgment, calm decision‑making, and clear communication skills.
  • Willingness to be on call 24/7 while on rotation and remain on station during shifts.
  • Basic computer skills for recordkeeping and communication.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Physical ability to work long hours and assist with varied station tasks.
  • Positive, professional attitude and willingness to support safety and station operations as needed.
  • Drivers license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria.
