When you join Pharma Cord as the Benefits Specialist, you’ll have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our patients as you help them navigate access to complex medications. This is a unique, team-based role in which you’ll work in an inclusive environment contributing to the overall success of your program. Beginning Day 1, you will learn about the drug manufacturers, disease states and therapies you’ll be supporting.

- Perform patient-level benefits verifications as applicable for all major medical and pharmacy benefits plans.
- Complete template forms that provide patient level benefits Coverage Determination Summary.
- Coordinate prior authorizations based on payer guidelines and in compliance with law, regulation or guidance.
- Review patient assistance enrollment forms and any supporting documentation to assess patient eligibility for participation as per SOPs and program guidelines.
- Determine patient’s eligibility based upon program criteria for qualification.
- Communicate the patient’s eligibility to the patient, healthcare provider, and/or consignment pharmacy.
- Answer and assist inbound callers through resolution utilizing answers to frequently asked questions or by warm transferring callers to other appropriate individuals.
- Actively listen to each customer, assess needs, and respond with demonstrated patience and courtesy.
- Review and identification of information that is missing and/or incorrect within program service requests/program applications.
- Reporting of Adverse Events/Product Complaint inquiries received in accordance with SOP and good manufacturing practices.
- Provides timely feedback to the company regarding service failures or customer concerns.
- Effectively uses our internal technology platform, Pharma Cord Lynk, to complete claims processing and keep workflows moving.
- Communicate with key medical practice accounts, sales representatives regarding the status of cases and provide consultative services on how obstacles can be overcome to get patients on paid therapy.
- Benefits Specialists are expected to be patient-focused and committed to providing the highest quality customer service while maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures.

- Personal attributes: service-minded, ability to handle personal health information with confidentiality, honesty and integrity, professionalism, clear verbal and written communication, accountability, planning and prioritization, attention to detail, emotional intelligence, adaptability, initiative, teamwork.
- Bachelor's degree strongly preferred or equivalent experience; high school diploma or GED required.
- 6 months customer service experience, payer benefits experience (reimbursement, prior authorization, etc.), healthcare industry experience or healthcare-related certification/licensure is strongly preferred.
- Bilingual is a plus.
- Office-based position; ability to sit for extended periods is necessary.
- Flexibility to travel as needed is preferred.
- Location:
Jeffersonville, IN; willingness to work on-site; toll reimbursement considerations for frequent users (policy described).
- Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently sit for long periods; type and use hands; reach with hands and arms; ability to type 35 WPM with 97% accuracy.
- Flexibility to travel as needed.
- Standard 8.5-hour shifts within business hours 8am–9pm, Monday through Friday; shift may change depending on business need.
