ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, PATIENT EDUCATION MANAGER - CALIFORNIA (CA, NV, and HI)
SUMMARY:
The Patient Education Manager (PEM) is a field-based role within the Patient Services and Support organization. The PEM uses approved material on disease state, product education and patient service capabilities with patients and caregivers. Domestic travel is required for phone-based and virtual meetings. The candidate should demonstrate a patient-first, values-driven work style where integrity and service guide behavior and actions. The PEM engages with Advocacy groups as part of the role.
PRODUCT: DAWNZERA is a prekallikrein-directed antisense oligonucleotide indicated for prophylaxis to prevent attacks of hereditary angioedema (HAE) in adult and pediatric patients 12 years of age and older.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This team will support patients in the following areas:
- Deliver disease state and product education regarding Ionis brand(s) and their approved indications using approved training/education materials to support and empower patients and caregivers as they navigate the treatment journey
- Educate account nurses and office staff, when requested, on the role and service model of the Patient Education Manager to support patients (coordinated with other field-based representatives)
- Demonstrate strong public speaking skills with experience hosting patient-facing programs and delivering clear, confident presentations during internal meetings and calls
- Show strong reimbursement and market access knowledge and the ability to educate and support patients throughout their treatment journey (preferred)
- Serve as a liaison to access teams and partners to address patient-specific needs
- Contribute to and engage with cross-functional teams in a highly integrated way
- Share perspectives and territory insights with the regional team and recommend strategies to integrate perspectives across patient education solutions
- Deliver approved education programs (in-person and webinar) to patients, families, and caregivers
- Participate in ongoing refinement of patient engagement strategy and educational materials to increase awareness and optimize service offerings
- Respond to customer inquiries, provide appropriate education and support, and triage to available resources
- Meet documentation requirements to facilitate tracking of critical metrics
- Complete all requisite training and ensure full compliance with corporate and industry policies
- Collaborate with Corporate Affairs to share advocacy insights from regional and local levels
- Identify, develop, and execute a multidisciplinary team approach for the company and disease to support a successful launch
REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
- An advanced scientific training or credentials establishing strong clinical acumen (Registered Nurse required)
- Knowledge and experience with genetic conditions highly desirable
- Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple internal and external stakeholders
- At least 12 years of related experience, including supporting patients within Rare Disease
- At least 2+ years of field-based experience in biopharmaceutical industry preferred
- Proven track record of delivering results that meet or exceed targeted objectives
