Overview
This individual will assist the Genetics Laboratory Directors in the performance of their duties. The Genetic Counselor (GC) will assist in data analysis, interpretation of data utilizing available literature and public databases, and reporting of test results in conjunction with clinical information and other test results. The GC will assist the Genetics lab by evaluating test orders to ensure proper test utilization and management.
The GC will work with the other laboratory GCs to oversee process improvement for genetic test ordering and for procuring insurance pre-approval for genetic tests to ensure timely, relevant, and cost-effective services. Additionally, the GC will provide educational guidance to laboratory support staff, hospital clinical staff, and clients through ongoing informal education, case conference presentations, and in-service presentations.

- Oversees the following activities to ensure relevant and timely genetic test procedures are performed for all patients served by the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
- Provide interpretative information - review, interpret, and initiate Genetic test results in conjunction with clinical information and other test results. Review patient case files for accuracy of information and for diagnosis of genetic anomalies. Consult, as appropriate, with health care provided to obtain clinical information necessary for test interpretation and/or communicate test results and their interpretation. Recommend additional testing or genetic counseling when appropriate.
- Administrative, Quality Assurance and Improvement activities
- Master s Degree GENETIC COUNSELING and 3-5 years experience
- American Board of Genetic Counseling
- ABGC certification Required
- MS in Genetic Counseling Required

Starting PayOur pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $36.64/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
Remote Work/Work from HomeThis position is entirely remote or work from home. The person hired must live in the Kansas City metro area or request advanced approval to work outside of the area and may attend onsite meetings, as scheduled.
