Position Summary Provides a range of grief counseling services to hospice family members and community, including phone and online counseling support (and occasionally in-person). Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team to provide team support, assisting with grief-related transitions after the patient’s death. Provides professional co-facilitation of grief groups and workshops throughout the year (including some evenings). Works closely with a team of counseling colleagues to coordinate care;
provides accurate and appropriate documentation for all counseling and support.
- Assesses the impact of loss in working with clients and works toward meaningful integration and healthy coping over time.
- Manages a counseling caseload that includes scheduling assignments and providing complete documentation of specific issues and interventions.
- Collaborates with grief counseling colleagues to provide safe, effective support groups and workshops through the year.
- Provides a supportive time in interdisciplinary meetings for colleagues.
- Works closely with grief counseling colleagues around coordination of care and ongoing education.
- Master’s Degree in Counseling, or Master’s Degree in Thanatology, or a counseling-related field
- Previous hospice and/or grief counseling experience (including groups) preferred
- Excellent listening and interpersonal skills in phone and video counseling
- A basic understanding of loss and grief with some personal integration
- Ability to work from home and have some facility with online communication platforms (Zoom, etc.)
