Patient Transporter — Facilitating Internal Hospital Patient Moves

Summary: Responsible for the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients, medical equipment and patient-related items to their destinations.

• Safely transports patients, secures IVs, drainage tubes, and other items, and ensures patient safety during transport.
• Uses wheelchairs and other approved rolling stock to carry out transportation duties.
• Demonstrates competency in transporting patients across all age groups.
• Ensures safe, timely and accurate transport of patients to destinations using the proper equipment.
• Communicates effectively with nursing staff, clinicians, technicians and dispatch.
• Attends to patient comfort and privacy, offers blankets, maintains modesty, and engages in appropriate conversation with patients.
• Alerts nursing staff to signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction.
• Maintains and reports equipment needing repairs.
• Adheres to regulatory standards (federal, state, JCAHO) and facility confidentiality and patient rights policies (HIPAA).
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Customer service experience required.
