Job Description:

***** JOB SUMMARY
** The Release of Information Specialist is responsible for supporting the organization by obtaining records from other healthcare organizations, processing referral requests, maintaining ROI documents in the electronic health record, providing support to the release of information vendor, and processing all disability and FMLA forms. This position will also process all restriction, amendment, and accounting of disclosure requests.
** JOB QUALIFICATIONS
**** EDUCATION
* ** For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
*** Minimum

Required:

*** Completion of medical terminology course within one year of hire.
** Preferred/Optional:
** None.
** EXPERIENCE
* *** Minimum

Required:

*** Three years in healthcare setting, preferably in HIM department and/or release of information.
* Experience with electronic health record systems.
** Preferred/Optional:
*** Previous experience with worker’s compensation and disability claims.
** CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
*** The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
