Project Manager – Healthcare (HCAi / OSHPD)
Location: Remote (San Francisco Bay Area Required)
Experience Level: Senior (12–15 Years Total Experience)
Russell + Lopes Architects LLP (RLA) is seeking an experienced Project Manager with extensive California healthcare and HCAi (formerly OSHPD) experience to join our growing practice. This is a remote position; however candidates must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area to support site visits, client coordination, and regulatory processes.
About the Role
The Project Manager will lead complex healthcare projects from planning through construction administration, with a strong emphasis on HCAi compliance, regulatory coordination, and consultant management
. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to operate independently within a collaborative design team.
12–15 years of professional architectural project experience
8–10 years of direct HCAi (OSHPD) healthcare project experience
Proven experience managing California hospital and acute care projects
Strong working knowledge of:
HCAi submittals and approvals
IOR coordination and construction phase requirements
Healthcare building codes (CBC, CAN, NFPA, FGI)
Experience leading multidisciplinary consultant teams
Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
Serve as Project Manager for healthcare projects subject to HCAi review and approval
Lead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and consultant coordination
Manage regulatory submittals and responses with HCAi and AHJs
Oversee quality control of project documentation across all phases
Participate in construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, ASIs, and site observations
Coordinate with owners, contractors, inspectors, and regulatory agencies
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff
Licensed Architect in California (or ability to obtain licensure)
Experience working in remote or hybrid team environments
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Revit and healthcare documentation standards
