Registered Nurse (RN), Triage, Part-time, Remote
Apply for the Registered Nurse (RN), Triage, Part-time, Remote role at Aurora Health Care.
Base pay range$34.90/hr - $52.35/hr
Schedule- Part-time, either 3 shifts of 10 hours or 4 shifts of 8 hours.
- Day/PM hours available.
- Every third weekend and holiday rotation.
Due to complex requirements, remote work is NOT permitted from the following states: CA, CO, CT, HI, MA, MD, MN, NJ, MY, OR, RI, VT, WA.
Major Responsibilities- Use the nursing process and established protocols to assess patient needs telephonically, including patient, guardian, or family when necessary. Determine appropriate level of care, provide detailed education, establish a care plan with interventions, and communicate follow‑up instructions. Escalate and collaborate with appropriate on‑call providers when additional guidance is needed.
- Prioritize patient interactions by acuity and need, considering all available information and resources. Apply evidence‑based practice to deliver patient care.
- Implement strategies to reduce patient risk and increase patient safety. Assess patient and family readiness to learn and individualize the approach as necessary.
- Work collaboratively to develop strategies to meet learning needs of patients and families.
- Support shared governance activities and initiatives to improve processes and patient outcomes.
- Participate in departmental quality/process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the patient care experience.
- Engage in professional activities that contribute to personal professional development and the development of others. Seek opportunities for training, coaching, and mentorship. Attend required meetings/educational programs and complete annual competencies.
- Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills. Promote collaboration with clinicians and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient‑centered care.
- Promote a culture of safety by identifying threats to patient safety and intervening to prevent harm. Report patient safety events and near misses promptly.
- Apply ethical decision making, demonstrate respect for peers, and contribute to an integrated, unbiased, individualized approach to care.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of patients served. Understand principles of growth and development across the life span. Assess and interpret patient data to identify requirements and provide care advice or disposition per departmental policies, procedures, and protocols. Schedule appointments to align with the recommended endpoint of the protocol used. Collaborate with health‑care teammates to coordinate medical and nursing management, including procedures and medication refills.
- Accurately maintain and update patient clinical records per agency, state, and federal guidelines. Document all call encounters in the electronic medical record at the time of the call. Communicate patient status to physicians, advanced practice clinicians, and other interdisciplinary team members. Provide concise reports describing patient response to plans of care.
- Participate in team meetings and work on special projects/tasks assigned by leadership. Contribute to the development of comprehensive health information resources, system and operational efficiencies, and resources. Assist in interpreting departmental policies and procedures, advising staff on procedural changes.
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
- Associate’s Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Nursing.
- Typically requires 2+ years of acute care experience, preferably within the last 4 years (ED, Urgent Care, ICU, and some Med/Surg considered).
- Critical thinking skills necessary to determine and prioritize patient needs using sound judgment and strong problem‑solving skills.
- Knowledge of various healthcare specialties, including levels of care, symptom identification, and proven treatment recommendations. Ability to integrate past experience with established protocols.
