Director, Nursing and Patient Care Services – Acute Care
Overview: The Director, Patient Care Services – Acute Care is responsible for coordinating the delivery of high‑quality services that meet or exceed customer expectations. The role includes the development, marketing, and strategic planning of new and existing services across multiple hospitals, contributing to system, hospital, and divisional goals. The Director sets vision and culture, builds ownership, and drives sustainable process improvements, while providing leadership and administering fiscal, corporate, and human‑resource policies in a multi‑skilled, multi‑functional environment.
Basic Life Support (BLS) is required within 90 days of hire. Oversight includes Market Professional Practice, Education, Diabetes, Wound, and Magnet programs.

Work Shift: First (Days)
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Required)
- 5 years of Healthcare Leadership experience (Required)
- 5 years of Clinical Leadership experience (Required)
Certification/Licensure:
- Active RN license in the state of practice or a compact/multi‑state license (Required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead strategic and operational planning for assigned service lines, ensuring alignment with system and hospital goals.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of new and existing services across the assigned departments and service lines.
- Set vision and culture, build ownership, and drive sustainable process improvements.
- Provide leadership in fiscal management, resource allocation, and compliance with corporate and human‑resource policies.
- Maintain accountability for performance outcomes related to patient safety, experience, team member engagement, and financial stewardship.

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is a 273‑bed facility and the region’s only Level III Trauma Center. It is a recognized accredited Primary Stroke Center and Magnet hospital for nursing excellence, specializing in heart, vascular, neuroscience, neurosurgery, orthopedics, spine care, cancer care, advanced imaging, and behavioral health. The hospital is located just 15 minutes from Virginia Beach Town Center and a few minutes to the Oceanfront.
