What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
  • Review complex inpatient documentation to assign diagnosis and procedure codes utilizing ICD-10 CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS
  • Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and federal regulations while utilizing EMR and/or Computer Assisted Coding software
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing recommendations on coding policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement and Quality teams to ensure accurate coding practices
  • Participate in payer audits and act as a resource for coding-related inquiries
What is Required (Qualifications)
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in inpatient coding within an acute care tertiary facility
  • Associate s Degree in Health Information Management or a related field
  • Coding Certification from a recognized body, such as AAPC or AHIMA
  • Advanced proficiency in ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently

  • Experience in revenue cycle processes and Clinical Documentation Improvement
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
  • Familiarity with electronic coding systems or applications
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
