Referral Specialist 2 – USFTGP Women’s Health Center

Primary focus:
Provide excellent customer service to physicians and patients referred for appointments and services at USF Health. Serve as the point of contact for patients being referred to USF Health to schedule provider‑referred appointments and services within the practice plan. Screen and process internal referrals generated by USF Health and/or outside providers.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 3 years of customer service experience in healthcare
• Completion of a 6‑month probationary period in the USF Patient Access Center
• Demonstrated accuracy in scheduling and registration for assigned areas within the referral service

• Process and track patient referrals for all departments to ensure timely transfer of patients and records
• Review individual productivity reports to self‑monitor and improve performance as needed
• Identify and route patient appointment information to the correct recipient via computer database and/or telephone calls
• Assist in monitoring electronic faxing referral authorization requests and EMR in‑basket messages to address authorization messages
• Assure quality through review and reporting to correct appointment routing
• Interact with clinical staff to facilitate timely and efficient referral processes
• Perform patient access functions for all specialties and divisions, including registration, pre‑registration, scheduling, and benefit verification to maintain daily operations per standards
• Assist in monitoring electronic faxing referral authorization requests and EMR in‑basket messages for authorizations
