Certified athletic trainers (AT‑C) provide educational services, community outreach activities, and athletic training services. They promote the efficiency of operations within the sports medicine program and participate in the improvement and promotion of the Children’s Mercy & Community sports medicine program. As part of our commitment to safety, the seasonal influenza vaccine is a condition of employment for all employees. New employees must be vaccinated unless they have an evidence‑based medical or religious exemption. If selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records.
Responsibilities- Provide safe, high‑quality athletic training services that deliver optimal outcomes for athletes.
- Provide sports‑related education to hospital staff, students, athletes, and the community, including:
- Education on sports injuries, prevention, and care.
- Patient/athlete and family education on the use of crutches, casts, splint care, skin assessment, and home exercises.
- Participation in promoting continuing educational opportunities for the community.
- Provide input to Communications and Marketing to assist in developing educational information and implementing strategies to promote Sports Medicine services in the community.
- Participate in teaching opportunities as needed.
- Assist in the education of athletic training students through established partnerships with accredited athletic training programs.
- Promote efficiency and improvement of operations within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Musculoskeletal Science/Sports Medicine Center.
- Use current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge and enhance role performance.
- Deliver care in a customer‑friendly way consistent with the philosophy, mission, vision, and values of the Department and organization.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training; no experience required, with on‑the‑job training. Previous work as a high‑school athletic trainer is preferred. Graduate assistant education as a certified athletic trainer may count toward experience.
- Certified Athletic Trainer (NAT, KS, MO). National Athletic Training Certification through the Board of Certification is required upon hire.

Starting PayOur pay range is market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $25.63/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
