Overview
The Department of Orthopedics is seeking an OR Scheduler (Support Services Specialist) to provide services related to access, scheduling, and support to assure effective and efficient delivery of health care services striving toward an excellent patient experience.
Duties include:
- Analyze Orthopedic OR allocations daily, monitoring room utilization, and make recommendations to senior Ortho leaders on ways to improve this.
- Maintain Epic room assignments.
- Coordinate and communicate between faculty offices on available OR time and offer time to others to fill unused time.
- Train all new Admin Services Coordinators on scheduling faculty surgeries and departmental guidelines regarding room utilization, including updating Epic, relaying information to Pre-Access for insurance authorization, and communicating with faculty offices.
- Educate new faculty on OR departmental guidelines.
- Assist with performance improvement initiatives.
- Work through the Ortho deficiency work queue.
- Maintain open communication with all OR locations, their schedulers, and OR staff.
- Monitor secure chats and Epic inboxes for OR-related issues.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- 1 year of experience in an administrative capacity.
- Experience maintaining records and/or databases.
- Knowledge of basic office routines and functions sufficient to telephone calls and to route correspondences by name and functional area.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks on time and maintain quality standards.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office and computer software applications.
- Ability to make decisions requiring interpretation and judgment.
- Experience working with Epic.
- Experience with OR operations.
- Knowledge of institutional and unit policies, processes and forms.
- Skill in utilizing computer software and online systems.
- Skill in operating office equipment.
- Ability to gather, analyze and display data in appropriate formats and keep accurate records.
- Experience working with iQueue.
- Attention to detail.
