Medical Assistant

Overview

SMG is hiring a Medical Assistant. A 5,000 Sign on Bonus is offered to eligible candidates. The Medical Assistant performs patient care and administrative/clerical tasks based on training and competency evaluations, and as delegated by the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Location: Chesapeake, VA

Work Shift: First (Days)

• Perform patient care tasks and administrative duties as appropriate.
• Provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff; identify and address safety considerations.
• Assess situations from multiple viewpoints, consider alternatives, assist with action plans, and evaluate outcomes.
• Demonstrate development of medical assistant skills, effective inter-departmental interactions, and adherence to department and system policies, procedures, and practices.
• Be productive and efficient in daily operations and use resources that are safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible.

• Education: High School Diploma.
• Certification: One of the following certifications:
  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • Registered Medical Assistant
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
  • Certified EMT (EMT-B, AEMT, or Paramedic)
  • BLS within 90 days of hire date
• Experience: Less than a year of related experience.
