Position: Outpatient Coding Specialist II (Remote)

What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
  • Review moderately complex medical records to identify, sequence, and code diagnoses and procedures according to established guidelines
  • Accurately code hospital services, including same-day surgeries, observations, and emergency department encounters
  • Ensure optimal assignment of CPT, ASC, APC, and APG codes as applicable
  • Resolve coding-specific edits such as CCI, LCD, NCD, and MUE
  • Maintain productivity and quality rates according to established standards
What is Required (Qualifications):
  • High School Equivalent / GED
  • A minimum of 2 years of ICD-10 CM, PCS, and/or CPT coding experience
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Required certifications upon hire: CPC, CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CCA, RCC, ROCC, or CHONC
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Associate's Degree in Health Information Management (HIM) or Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience working in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Familiarity with multiple coding systems and software
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
  • Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational skills
