This position is posted as Patient Services Assistant, which is a working title. The NAU system title for this position is Administrative Services Assistant.
About the Department/CollegeCampus Health serves as an integrated care clinic, providing services including: comprehensive primary medical care, lab services, immunizations, same-day appointments for urgent concerns, psychiatric services, behavioral health, physical therapy, and counseling services.
About the PositionActs as the first point of contact for Campus Health Services, accurately checking in patients, gathering demographic and insurance info, verifying coverage, collecting payments, scheduling/managing appointments, explaining paperwork (consents), and inputting data into electronic systems, all while ensuring confidentiality (HIPAA) and providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced medical setting. Key duties focus on administrative accuracy, patient interaction, and technical data entry, requiring strong communication and organizational skills.
ResponsibilitiesInclude
55% - Patient Registration
- Schedule patient appointments for Campus Health Services.
- Assist patients with check-in and completing appropriate paperwork.
- Update confidential patient information. Verify accuracy of the patient s insurance information and entering in patient chart.
- Enrolling students into Louie Care and Student health insurance.
- Assist patients with check-out and appropriate payment. Assist in scheduling patients who may be walking-in for a same-day appointments or urgent care clinic.
35% - Customer Service
- Maintain superior customer service skills.
- Screen telephone calls for Campus Health Services to include documenting accurately messages in the electronic health record.
- Receiving and posting payments. Provide parking access to patients. Handle customer queries.
5% - Other Administrative duties
- Receive, sort and distribute mail.
- Receive, sort and distribute incoming faxes.
- Responsible for maintenance of office equipment.
- Provide support to staff as directed.
5% - Other
- Other duties as assigned.
- Requires a high school degree.
- A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.
- Two years of increasingly responsible office/administrative experience.
- Experience in a medical setting.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of standard office policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
Skills
- Records maintenance.
- Develops and maintains good working relationships.
- Proficient in English composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation, and basic math.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Operates a variety of office machines including personal computers, telephones and copiers.

Budgeted salary is $40,000. Annual salary commensurate with candidate s qualifications and related experience.
