Sentara Careplex is hiring a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for Intermediate Care Unit, Stepdown.
Full-time (Weekly scheduled hour: 36)
Shift: Days 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

ResponsibilitiesPatient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse. Observe patients physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nursing staff.
QualificationsEducation:
- HS - High School Grad or Equivalent
- One of the following programs is acceptable for education:
Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.
Certifications/Licensure:
- AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
Experience:
- One year of health care experience preferred.
This is a 24-bed unit where we care for patients with a variety of healthcare needs. We are the designated Stroke Unit. We provide care for respiratory compromised patients on Bipap, high-flow and/or chronic long term vents. We monitor and titrate vasoactive infusions and have bedside monitors. We care for patients with DKA, CHF, Pneumonia, and more.

Sentara Care Plex Hospital, located in Hampton, VA, is a 224-bed technologically advanced, acute care facility and Certified Primary Stroke Center. Other features include specialized services in heart and vascular, urologic care, advanced diagnostic and surgical capabilities, a hospitalist program, and one of the state s busiest emergency departments. We are also home to the Orthopedic Hospital at Sentara Care Plex Hospital.
