As a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic, CNS Healthcare's mission is to serve the people of our communities. The Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist serves as a member of an interdisciplinary team and performs psychiatric evaluations, evaluation and management services, care coordination, assessments, consultations, medication management, and follow-up appointments for children and adolescents with a variety of mental and behavioral healthcare needs.
This position may provide care to occasional youths in transition and/or adults.

- Provide direct clinical care by conducting psychiatric evaluations, evaluation and management services, care coordination, assessment, consultations, and medication management for children and adolescents, as well as occasionally youths in transition and/or adults.
- Assess and diagnose according to the criteria outlined in the most recently published Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders.
- Consult with the individual’s caregivers, parents, guardians, personal support system and/or family as well as other professionals from schools, agencies, outside community organizations, and juvenile courts to coordinate care and provide individualized recommendations for treatment.
- Coordinate integrated care with internal and external provides of mental health, physical health, and substance use disorders.
- Order and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests as deemed clinically appropriate.
- Prescribe psychotropic medications including controlled substance and other classifications of medications as deemed clinically appropriate and provide medication monitoring including individual compliance with medication regime, effects, and side effects.
- Recommend and encourage the use of increased prescriptions for Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for tobacco, alcohol, and opioid use disorders when clinically appropriate.
- Prescribe FDA-approved medications to treat alcohol and opioid use disorders.
- Provide education regarding chronic health conditions, disease process, healthy lifestyle management, vaccinations, and medication management including risks, benefits, and side effects.
- Provide consultation by participating in case reviews, recommending appropriate treatment approaches, committees, grant submissions, peer reviews, advanced practice provider collaboration, supporting residents, fellows, and trainees, and contributing to the establishment of psychiatric programs, policies, and procedures.
- Provide consultation to internal staff on the delivery of children and adolescent programming and quality outcome metrics.
- Engage in publication opportunities.
- Testify in judicial proceedings on matters concerning petitions and affidavits for persons served.
- Participate in monthly on-call rotation as assigned.
- Adhere to and maintain compliance with proper guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe, hygienic environment including infection control, medical waste, pharmaceutical waste, and sharps disposal.
- Utilize motivational interview strategies and a trauma-informed approach to engage with and provide service to individuals.
