Join our dedicated team at the Cultural Development & Wellness Center (CDWC) at Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR). As a Health Navigator, you will support Karen- and Burmese-speaking clients by providing cultural bridging, case management, interpretation, and wellness services to improve access to care and reduce stigma for immigrants and refugees in Aurora. You will work in partnership with the Refugee & Immigrant Clinic to deliver trauma-informed, community-based services to New Americans as they navigate behavioral health and social systems.
The ideal candidate is bilingual in Karen or Burmese as well as English, has experience serving diverse populations in behavioral health or human services settings, and is passionate about empowering immigrant and refugee communities. This role requires strong collaboration with mental health providers and community partners, and includes outreach, care coordination, interpretation, and participation in group services at the clinic.

- Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm. Hybrid model with in-office 3–4 days per week and remote work 1–2 days; schedule may be adjusted based on training, program, client, and community needs. - Salary: $22.04 – $33.07 hourly. Starting wage is based on experience and company equity; paid bi-weekly.
- Bilingual Language Differential Pay: a fixed $6,000 per calendar year for employees who pass a language assessment, prorated based on hire date and full-time equivalency (FTE). Eligible for payment bi-weekly over 26 pay periods. Eligibility depends on language requirements and demonstrated proficiency.
- Operate as an integral part of a behavioral health team.
- Provide language interpretation to clients receiving behavioral health services (e.g., individual counseling, medication follow-up, psychosocial skill building, wellness groups).
- Provide firsthand cultural knowledge as a member/leader in local refugee/immigrant communities in Colorado, including identifying, understanding, and addressing their needs.
- Build trusting relationships with community members; advocate for the refugee community and liaise with a diverse network of providers.
- Provide outreach and health education to immigrant/refugee communities and share information about programs, services, and how to access them.
- Facilitate client and family engagement and optimize communication between clients and providers; assist with transportation, reminder calls, attendance, care coordination, and case management.
- Receive ongoing training and team support from supervisors, therapists, peers, and medical providers; complete patient navigation and interpretation training as needed.
- Help conduct initial screenings/interviews for immigrants/refugees identified as at-risk for behavioral health issues.
- Help translate health and mental health education materials into primary languages as needed.
- Connect clients and families to community resources, referrals, advocacy, and service planning; may involve telephone contact, home visits, and meetings.
- Provide cultural education/training for providers.
- Assist with other tasks and projects as needed, including grants.
- Monitor and coordinate care for assigned clients in partnership with the care team.
- Required:
High school diploma or GED. Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in a human services field or related field, or a non-human services field with one year relevant experience. - One year of direct service provision in human services/navigation or a related field (preferred).
- Medical interpretation certification or willingness to obtain one.
- Language fluency in English and Karen or Burmese.
- Strong desire to serve refugee/immigrant communities; familiarity with their needs.
- Ability to complete patient navigation training as needed; demonstrated cultural and linguistic competency.
- Ability to serve as cultural broker and interpreter; capable of building trusting relationships and acting as an advocate and liaison.
- First-hand cultural knowledge as a member/leader in the local refugee community in Colorado.
