Job OverviewWe are looking for a motivated Outpatient Receptionist/Scheduler to join our Patient Access team. The role requires excellent organisational skills, the ability to multitask and work under pressure, and fluency in medical terminology. Training will be provided on eCare and other patient administration systems. The successful candidate will work as part of a large team and deliver on performance targets.
There is an opportunity to work from home – details will be discussed at interview.
Key Responsibilities- Schedule outpatient appointments in accordance with national and local policies and the MKUH Patient Access Policy.
- Work within a call centre environment to respond to patient, GP and other queries, ensuring data protection rules are followed and customer service is provided.
- Monitor patient waiting lists to secure an outpatient appointment within appropriate time frames and raise issues to senior managers.
- Provide reception cover for Outpatient areas and MKUH Main Reception, updating Trust systems accordingly and delivering excellent customer service.
- Central Booking Office:
Ensure appointments scheduled according to policy, respond to patient calls, communicate cancellations, and collaborate with other administrative staff to provide an efficient scheduling service. - Reception:
Greet patients and visitors, check‑in and check‑out on eCare, action clinic outcome forms, cash up reception area each day, liaise with clinicians to receive and action forms, update referral status and arrange follow‑up appointments, keep reception areas clean and tidy.
- Previous experience in a medical or healthcare setting and knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask and prioritise tasks.
- Excellent keyboard skills and ability to adapt across medical specialties.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
