Description

Join our dedicated team at the Cultural Development & Wellness Center (CDWC) at Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR), where we are proud to serve our diverse community with compassion and culturally responsive care. As a Health Navigator, you will play a critical role in supporting Karen‑ and Burmese‑speaking clients by providing cultural bridging, case management, interpretation, and wellness services that improve access to care and reduce stigma for immigrants and refugees in Aurora.

Working in close partnership with the Refugee & Immigrant Clinic, you will help deliver trauma‑informed, community‑based services to New Americans as they navigate behavioral health and social systems. The ideal candidate is bilingual in Karen or Burmese as well as English, has experience supporting diverse populations in behavioral health or human services settings, and is passionate about empowering immigrant and refugee communities.

This role requires strong collaboration with mental health providers and community partners and includes outreach, care coordination, interpretation, and participation in group services at the clinic—making a meaningful difference every day for individuals and families building new lives in Aurora.

Schedule

This position will work Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm, and is eligible for a hybrid model that allows for a mix of remote and in-office work, with an expectation of being in the office 3-4 days per week and working from home 1-2 days. This schedule may be adjusted based on training, program, client, and community needs.

Salary and Language Differential

Salary for this role. Starting wage is based on experience and company equity. Paid bi-weekly.

  • $22.04 - $33.07 hourly

Bilingual Language Differential Pay.Employees who successfully pass a language assessment are eligible to receive bilingual differential pay. This differential is provided as a fixed amount of $6,000 per calendar year, paid on a bi‑weekly basis across 26 pay periods, and prorated based on hire date and full‑time equivalency (FTE). Eligibility and payment are subject to the language requirements of the position and the employee’s demonstrated proficiency in the language.

Functions
  • Operate as an integral part of a behavioral health team.
  • Provide language interpretation to clients receiving behavioral health services, such as individual counseling, medication follow up, psychosocial skill building and wellness groups.
  • Provide firsthand cultural knowledge as a member/leader in local refugee/immigrant community in Colorado. This includes helping to identify, understand, and address the needs of refugee/immigrant communities.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with community members and act as advocate for refugee community, and to liaise with a diverse network of providers.
  • Provide outreach & health education to immigrant/refugee communities and share information about full range of programs, services, and how to access them.
  • Facilitate client and family engagement and optimize communication between clients and providers. Assisting with transportation, reminder calls, encouraging regular attendance at appointments, care coordination, and case management.
  • Receive ongoing training and team support from supervisors, therapists, peers, and medical providers. Complete patient navigation and interpretation training as needed.
  • Help conduct initial screenings/interviews for immigrants/refugees identified as at-risk for behavioral health issues.
  • Help translate health and mental health education material into primary languages as needed.
  • Connect clients and their families to various community resources, referrals, advocacy, and/or service planning. This may involve telephone contact, home visits, and meetings.
  • Provide cultural education/training for providers.
  • Assist with other tasks and projects as needed, including grants.
  • Monitor and coordinate care for assigned clients in partnership with the other members of the client's care team.
