Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join our multidisciplinary team and support the delivery of high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic services. In this role, the LCSW will provide comprehensive clinical services, including diagnostic assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as well as psychotherapy and counseling for children, adolescents, and families.

The Talcott Center for Child Development is a privately owned, multidisciplinary pediatric therapy clinic based in Farmington, CT serving children and adolescents from birth through age 21. Our center offers Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and Social Skills Groups, enabling an integrated, team-based approach to care. At the core of our practice is a Comprehensive Autism Day Program that utilizes a holistic, interdisciplinary model to promote early intervention and meaningful outcomes.

A meaningful portion of this role will be dedicated to ASD diagnostic assessment, reflecting our commitment to reducing barriers to timely autism diagnosis and improving access to services for the local community. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, clinically skilled LCSW who is passionate about diagnostic work and eager to collaborate with a highly experienced interdisciplinary team of OTs, SLPs, PTs, and BCBAs.

The position emphasizes evidence-based practice, family-centered care, and collaboration across disciplines to support individuals and families across the lifespan.

• Conduct comprehensive autism diagnostic evaluations for children and adolescents using DSM-5-TR criteria
• Administer, score, and interpret the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition) in accordance with formal training and scope of practice
• Integrate ADOS-2 results with clinical interviews, behavioral observations, developmental history, and caregiver input
• Dedicate a substantial portion of clinical time (up to approximately 50%) to ASD diagnostic evaluations in support of community access needs
• Formulate clear diagnostic impressions and develop individualized treatment recommendations
• Prepare timely, accurate diagnostic reports and documentation consistent with ethical and regulatory standards
• Communicate results to families using a strength-based, culturally responsive approach

• Provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults
• Deliver family-centered counseling and psychoeducation to support caregivers in understanding diagnoses, managing stress, and strengthening family systems
• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches (e.g., CBT, trauma-informed care, play-based interventions, parent coaching, psychoeducation)
• Deliver parent training and family counseling focused on improving communication, co-regulation strategies, behavioral management, and home-based supports
• Collaborate closely with on-site team including SLPs, OTs, BCBAs, as well as any outside providers (i.e. school-based providers, pediatricians, psychologists) to ensure integrated, high-quality care
• Participate in treatment planning and case consultation
• Coordinate referrals and connect families with community resources and supports
• Advocate for clients and families within educational, medical, and community systems

• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in compliance with agency, state, and payer requirements
• Complete treatment plans, progress notes, diagnostic reports, and discharge summaries
• Adhere to ethical standards outlined by the NASW and state licensing board

• Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
• Active LCSW license in CT
• Formal training and demonstrated competence in administering the ADOS-2
• Experience conducting Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnostic evaluations; familiarity with CPT coding for billing purposes is preferred.
• Experience providing psychotherapy to children and families
• Extensive background working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or ASD.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills

• Advanced or ongoing training in autism assessment and intervention
• Experience working in interdisciplinary or clinical settings
