The Patient Access Manager is part of the Market Access, Reimbursement, and Medical Policy (MA&R) team. The role focuses on the Avanos Pain Management and Recovery product portfolio, including radio frequency ablation products. Core duties include:
- Developing, implementing, and managing the Avanos Patient Access Program and its team, ensuring operational excellence and compliance.
- Hiring and managing direct reports, conducting performance reviews, and overseeing workforce productivity and staffing.
- Providing on‑the‑job training and ongoing coaching to resolve complex patient access issues and foster career growth.
- Conducting internal reviews and audits to maintain alignment with strategic initiatives and program effectiveness.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for complex issues requiring accurate, consistent, and compliant resolution.
- Analyzing program outcomes, identifying trends, and recommending tactical enhancements to improve efficiency and payer processes.
- Collaborating with the MA&R team to identify market access, reimbursement, and coverage changes that affect patient access.
- Developing and delivering educational materials, including training and presentations on patient access and program outcomes.
- Maintaining professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Participating in program operations as needed, such as data entry, appeal preparation, documentation collection, and payer determination processing.
- Adhering to ethics, legal and regulatory parameters, and Corporate Compliance requirements.
- Performing additional duties and projects as required.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in patient access, medical benefits, health insurance standards, and reimbursement for surgical and/or medical device procedures.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience managing a patient access program and direct reports.
- Advanced knowledge of pre‑service insurance authorization processes, payer review requirements, and coverage determination.
- Experience delivering educational presentations to internal and external audiences.
- Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel) and familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) and CRM applications (e.g., ).
- Knowledge of compliance and regulatory mandates in medical device environments, including HIPAA, HITECH, and federal statutes.
