Overview

Family therapists provide a range of home-based services to families according to individual family needs. This includes assessing and treating individuals, families, and groups to achieve more adequate, satisfying, and productive family and social environments; addressing a wide array of relational issues within the context of the family system; and addressing individuals holistically and contextually.

Minimum

Job Requirements
  • Master’s degree in counseling, marriage and family therapy, or equivalent degree
  • Experience with children and families preferred
  • Must possess or be working toward receipt of professional licensure from and registration with appropriate Louisiana licensing board
  • Willingness to provide hands-on, in-home concrete services
  • Respect for cultural differences and families’ rights to self-determination
  • Ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities and in a team setting
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Direct Client Care
    • Provide 16 hours of direct client care on a weekly basis, comprising intensive individual and family therapy focusing on trauma through Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
    • Maintain TF-CBT program fidelity
    • Maintain contact and face-to-face visits with entire caseload per program requirements
    • Provide aftercare sessions as needed
    • Provide crisis intervention services as needed
    • Maintain awareness and sensitivity to service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and integrate this into client care
    • Maintain all confidential information
  • Administration and Paperwork
    • Generate and maintain case notes, treatment plans, and any required Medicaid documentation
    • Document work using electronic health record
    • Complete all paperwork in a timely manner
    • Be available by phone to clients, coworkers, and community partners on a consistent basis
    • Assist Brokers of Hope (BOH) family advocates, where applicable, in maintaining and organizing program files
  • Advocacy and Community Partnerships
    • Maintain communication with community agencies and resource providers within assigned region and advocate for clients with them as needed
    • Attend weekly consultation and work collaboratively with BOH staff
  • Universal Responsibilities
    • Complete all necessary training and attend conferences, seminars, and meetings as requested
    • Attend weekly clinical supervision with clinical coordinator to discuss cases
    • Engage in team staffing as requested
    • Assist supervisor or team as needed
    • Other duties as assigned

Regular automobile and airline travel may be required in normal course of job performance.
