Base pay range

$59,155.20/yr - $98,571.20/yr

Responsibilities
  • Review, analyze, and code diagnostic and procedural information for inpatient pediatric medical records.
  • Perform ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, ICD‑10‑PCS (IP tech/DRG), and HCPCS coding for Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance payments.
  • Ensure compliance with established coding guidelines, third‑party reimbursement policies, regulations, and accreditation guidelines.
  • Abstract and assign codes to diagnosis and operative procedures, assure accuracy, and complete necessary documentation.
  • Identify and abstract services from admission, transfer, discharge, appointment, and surgical schedules.
  • Conduct comprehensive record verification to confirm presence of all required components, appropriate E & M levels, and consistent documentation.
  • Contribute to performance improvement, problem‑solving, and cost management through accurate, clear, and timely communication.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Associate's Degree (Preferred)
  • 1 year hospital‑based coding experience required; pediatric experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience coding inpatient hospital stays (ICD‑10‑CM/PCS, APR‑DRG/MS‑DRG assignments) and pediatric records.
Accountabilities
  • Meet department accuracy and productivity standards for coding, abstracting, and record reconciliation activities.
  • Ensure all captured services are coded consistently with applicable coding rules and conventions.
  • Anticipate and respond to customer needs; follow up until needs are met.
  • Demonstrate collaborative, respectful behavior and partner with all team members to achieve goals.
  • Identify opportunities to improve clinical and administrative processes and use resources efficiently.
  • Actively promote safety for patients, families, visitors, and coworkers; speak up when unsafe behavior or performance is observed.
