Position: Licensed Vocational Nurse - Community Living Center (CLC), EDRP
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional

* Performs and documents focused assessment and reports abnormal findings to the RN Charge Nurse, and/or Nurse Manager.

* If acting in the capacity of the Charge Nurse role, the LPN/LVN, within their scope of practice, effectively assigns, manages, and directs other LVN/LPNs and Nurse' Aides in the delivery of patient/resident care. The LVN/LPN demonstrates the ability to assign patients/residents care needs and the capability of the staff to meet those needs.

* Demonstrates knowledge and ability to appropriately carry out assigned patient care based on the patients' conditions; to use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments; and to accurately recognize, report, and record relevant patient information.

* The LVN/LPN is technically proficient in performing, reporting, and recording assigned nursing care, including but not limited to:

* Administers oxygen (O2) therapy

* Medication administration

* Completes clinical reminders with appropriate consults and alerts as indicated

* Ensures medications/supplies are not expired and removed from inventory

* Accurately performs delegated procedures and treatments

* Assists with minor procedures, including obtaining and arranging necessary equipment, positioning patient, ensuring comfort and privacy

* Electrocardiograms (EKG/ECG)

* Data collection and documentation intervention of patient visits in applicable nursing note.

* Based on the patient's goals, reinforces patient and family health education, to include self-management, prevention and wellness.

* Assists in medication reconciliation. Notifies the provider of changes.

* Measures, records vital signs and enters them in and uses the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Reports all significant deviations to the RN immediately.

* Performs TB skin tests and measures and documents results.

* Closes daily notes

* Completes daily check of the automated external defibrillator (AED)

* Complete the Blood Glucose meter check daily, as applicable.

* Adheres to standards of practice and safe technique in preparation and administration of medication.

* Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing the Bar-Code Medication Administration (BCMA) system to administer medication to individual or a group of patients safely and efficiently.

* Identifies urgent or emergent patient care situations, seeks assistance and intervenes as directed when directed when appropriate.

Preferred Experience:

* Successful Nursing practice with adult populations

* One-year in adult long-term care

* One-year medication administration

* Experience in patient education, adult education, or staff education

* Basic computer literacy proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office Programs and the ability to learn new programs specific to the VA

Work Schedule:

Full-time;
Rotating shifts 6:00 a.m.

- 6:30 p.m.; 6:00 p.m.

- 6:30 a.m.; includes weekends and holidays

Pay:
Competitive salary and regular salary increases

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

Parental Leave:
After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy:
After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.

Retirement:
Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

Insurance:
Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
