This onsite role is at Mercy - Anderson Hospital in Cincinnati, OH.
We are searching for the next Patient Access Specialist champion. This is an active, non-desk role where you will walk from room to room and push a 10-pound mobile computer station throughout the shift. This role performs admitting duties for all patients admitted for services at the hospital, while meeting the mission, goals, and regulatory compliance requirements of the organization.
Job Responsibilities:
- Patient Access staff are responsible for assigning accurate MRNs, completing medical necessity / compliance checks, providing proper patient instructions, collecting insurance information, receiving and processing physician orders, and utilizing an overlay tool while delivering excellent customer service as measured by Press Ganey.
- Operates the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls as applicable.
- Adhere to policies and provide excellent customer service with appropriate compassion.
- Meet point of service goals as assigned.
- Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to ensure accounts are corrected; conduct audits and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership.
- Pre-register patient accounts prior to visits, including inbound/outbound calls to obtain demographic, insurance, and other information, and handle point of service collections and past-due balances including payment plans.
- Explain general consent for treatment forms, obtain necessary signatures, and distribute patient education documents and forms.
- Review eligibility responses and support POS and billing processes to help maintain a clean claim rate.
- Screen medical necessity using ABN software and distribute designated forms and pamphlets.
Requirements:
- Ability to walk from room to room and push a 10-pound mobile computer station throughout the shift.
Experience:
- 1+ years of customer service experience
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma/GED Required
Certifications:
- CRCR Required within 9 months of hire (Company Paid)
