Care Assistant - Drivers at our day opportunity centres located across the city:

  • Moseley Day Centre – Moseley

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Care Assistants - Drivers to join our supportive team, helping individuals achieve their fullest potential through sensitive, patient, and respectful care. This role involves providing emotional and practical support, assisting with daily living skills, promoting effective communication, and encouraging community participation. As a link worker, you’ll contribute to care planning, attend meetings, and maintain accurate records.

You’ll work closely with families, carers, and other professionals, always upholding confidentiality and cultural sensitivity. Responsibilities also include delivering personal care within an enablement framework, arranging meaningful activities, and adhering to all relevant policies including safeguarding and health and safety. Regular supervision, training, and development reviews are part of the role, ensuring you grow professionally while making a real difference in people’s lives.

We provide vital day services for adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, complex health needs, and autism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely transport service users to and from their homes, day centres, and community activities
  • Provide personal care and support within the centre setting
  • Represent Birmingham City Council with professionalism and compassion
What We’re Looking For
  • A caring and sensitive approach to supporting adults’ physical and social needs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Team-oriented, proactive, flexible, and self-motivated
  • Commitment to equality and inclusion
  • Aged 21+ with at least two years’ experience
  • Possession of a Category D1 licence is desirable but not essential – training will be provided during the 6-month probationary period
  • Willingness to complete the MIDAS driver training (funded by BCC)
  • All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and safeguarding training to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the individuals we support
