What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
  • Conduct concurrent reviews of clinical documentation in medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to identify and record principal and secondary diagnoses
  • Utilize clinical knowledge to clarify documentation and communicate effectively with medical staff
  • Track program progress and share findings with relevant staff to improve documentation quality
  • Educate physicians and staff on the importance of severity of illness and risk of mortality documentation
What is Required (Qualifications)
  • Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Certification in RHIT or RHIA, along with CCDS or CDIP
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Clinical Documentation, Case Management/Utilization Review, or Critical Care
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) in the relevant state or multi-state jurisdiction
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Experience in an acute care setting as a nurse with at least 3 years of practice
  • Familiarity with healthcare documentation standards and compliance regulations
  • Advanced training in clinical documentation improvement techniques
  • Ability to conduct training sessions for medical staff on documentation practices
  • Demonstrated skills in critical thinking and problem-solving within healthcare environments
