Abound Health is actively seeking compassionate, stable, and dedicated families across Pennsylvania to join our Life Sharing Program as Host Families. Life Sharing is a rewarding opportunity where you welcome an individual with an intellectual or developmental disability into your home and family life. As a host, you provide not just a place to live—but a sense of belonging, growth, and genuine connection.

Life Sharing is a person-centered residential model that supports individuals in becoming fully integrated members of a family and the broader community. Unlike traditional caregiving, Life Sharing promotes long-term relationships, independence, and meaningful everyday experiences within a natural home environment.

• Receive Support and Compensation:
  Host families are paid a daily stipend and receive ongoing support and training from our team.

To become a Life Sharing provider, families must:

• Be Pennsylvania residents (open to all counties)
• Be at least 21 years old
• Pass required background checks (FBI, child abuse, criminal)
• Complete home inspections and meet home safety standards
• Provide personal and professional references
• Participate in interviews and an assessment process to ensure a good match
• Be willing to include the person in daily routines, meals, activities, and family life

All host families must complete:

• ODP-approved Life Sharing Orientation
• Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness
• Medication Administration (if applicable)
• Individual Rights and Person-Centered Planning
• Ongoing annual training (e.g., trauma-informed care, dignity and respect)

• Contract Position:
  Host families are independent contractors, not employees of Abound Health.
• Supports Available:
  Abound Health provides 24/7 emergency support, respite coordination, clinical consultation, and case management.
• Flexible Matching:
  We work with you to find a good match based on your lifestyle, preferences, and home setting.
