This position is full-time and located in Durham, NC. This is not a remote position.
DHDAA supports a flexible work environment with on-site, hybrid, or remote options and flexible start/end times, with all team members residing within a 50-mile radius of our downtown Durham office. When working hybrid or remote, staff must have a secure home office with high-speed internet and be prepared to work with others using a variety of technologies. With manager approval, schedules may vary within core hours 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (EST).
Managers or Senior Leadership may require in-office presence outside of the agreed schedule.

We are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and relationship-driven professional at Duke Health to advance Duke Health s mission in research, education, and healthcare by building and supporting successful and lasting relationships with foundations and private grant-making organizations.
As a member of the Foundation Relations and Strategic Partnerships team in DHDAA, you will serve as a frontline fundraiser whose goal is to increase philanthropic support for institutional priorities within Duke Health.
Responsibilities- Design, coordinate, and implement strategies to secure gift and grant funding from private foundations and other private grant-making organizations at local, regional, and national levels.
- Work closely with faculty to articulate the impact of their work in alignment with prospective funders priorities and maintain positive, ongoing interactions with senior leaders across Duke Health, faculty, physicians, and partner offices.
- Identify new prospects for Duke Health based on grant-making potential and fit with institutional priorities; navigate the academic medical center environment with diplomacy and persistence while representing the organization to high-level foundation leaders.
Hybrid; this position is full-time and located in Durham, NC. This is not a remote position.
Anticipated Pay RangeBase salary range USD $68,970.00 to USD $. Salary considers scope and responsibilities, candidate s experience, education/training, internal equity, and market factors. Total compensation includes comprehensive medical and dental care programs, retirement benefits, and family-friendly and cultural programs.

DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES / SKILLS- Advanced degree.
- Experience with science communications and research development.
- Proven track record of collaborations with faculty and experience developing grant proposals or administering grant funding from foundations; science/medicine experience is strongly recommended.
- Preference for experience writing or editing complex, science-based proposals for academic medical centers.
- Proven writing ability for proposals and LOIs; willingness to provide writing samples for interview.
- Experience in a complex, multi-tiered environment; background in foundation relations, research development, science communication, program development, or project management; ability to manage multiple offices and meet deadlines.
- Ability to represent DHDAA to foundations and philanthropic organizations with substantial giving capacity.
- Excellent verbal communication skills to represent the office to faculty and foundation representatives.
- Education/Training: Bachelor s degree required with communications, analytical, and organizational skills.
