Our client, a Global Fortune 50 organization and one of world’s largest distributors of Health care systems, medical supplies & Pharmaceutical products,
seeks an accomplished Clinical Coding Specialist.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- THIS WILL BE A REMOTE ROLE.
- Work Location:
Remote (Monthly onsite meetings required – The Woodlands, TX) - Duration: 3 months assignment temp to hire.
- Work Schedule:
Mon
- Fri – 8:00am to 4:30pm
The following describes the role and requirements for a Clinical Coding Specialist at a remote-capable position with 3-month assignment temp to hire. The role supports outpatient coding with HCC risk adjustment, requiring adherence to policies and remote work readiness.
Responsibilities- Abstract clinical and demographic information to assign accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes
- Identify eligible HCCs based on provider documentation and coding guidelines
- Follow established coding processes, procedures, and updates as directed
- Perform validations consistent with departmental quality and productivity goals
- Communicate clearly to identify and report quality concerns or coding errors
- Query providers when documentation is incomplete or unclear
- Update patient problem lists in the EHR according to established guidelines
- Collaborate with clinic staff to ensure completion of patient records with HCCs
- Maintain confidentiality of medical records and comply with HIPAA requirements
- Participate virtually in team meetings, training sessions, and educational events
- Follow McKesson ICARE, ILEAD, and remote employee policies
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certified Coder credential (CPC, CRC, COC, or CCA)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Oncology coding experience
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Experience partnering with outpatient practices and providers
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, remote work environment
