Pool Clinical Pharmacist - Inpatient

Overview

Job Summary Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, responsible for accurate and efficient practice of pharmacy, including general clinical pharmacy services to patients, nurses and medical staff. Participates in Pharmacotherapy Consult service, staff development and education, and targeted drug programs. Assesses the age-specific needs of patients served while monitoring patient medication use and processing medication orders. Able to perform all of the duties of a registered Pharmacist.

Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

• Provide accurate and efficient clinical pharmacy services to patients, nurses and medical staff.
• Participate in Pharmacotherapy Consult service, staff development and education, and targeted drug programs.
• Assess age-specific needs of patients and monitor medication use and orders.
• Perform all duties of a registered Pharmacist and adhere to hospital policies.
• Specify “Pediatric Clinical Pharmacist Pool” for the position.
• Rotate days and evening shifts; occasional overnight staffing on a rotating basis to cover vacations.
• Cross-coverage of IV room/central operations as needed.
• Supervise sterile compounding activities, technicians, and pediatric satellite pharmacy operations.

• B.S. degree in Pharmacy with residency, or Pharm D degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Practice Residency or equivalent training/experience.
• Current licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in the state of Florida.
• One year prior experience in a hospital, or related experience with clinical pharmacy.
• Completion of ASHP-accredited residency program or a minimum of three years of pediatric clinical and operational experience preferred.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Position requires supervision of sterile compounding activities, technicians, and pediatric satellite pharmacy operations.
