OverviewThe Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Dell Medical School is seeking a Supervisor, Behavioral Health Outreach to work for the Child Psychiatry Access Network (CPAN), the Perinatal Psychiatry Access Network (PeriPAN), and other related programs. The Supervisor, Behavioral Health Outreach will work under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Programs and Clinical Integration to implement CPAN, PeriPAN, and other programs.
CPAN and PeriPAN are interdisciplinary clinical services programs intended to offer primary care clinic providers and OBGYNs prompt access to on-call psychiatrists to provide expertise in assessment, treatment, and referrals for pediatric and/or perinatal patients identified as having a mental health challenge. The Outreach and Strategy Specialist will also work on the Safety-A program, an evidence-based intervention that trains clinicians how to identify and respond to suicide risk.
This is a state and federally funded position sponsored by the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC). TCMHCC was created by the 86th Texas Legislature to leverage the expertise and capacity of the health-related institutions of higher education to address urgent mental health challenges and improve the mental health care system in this state in relation to children, adolescents, and perinatal women.
The University of Texas Dell Medical School (DMS) is a Health Related Institution (HRI) for the TCMHCC.
A flexible working arrangement agreement can be accommodated based upon the needs of the program and with supervisor approval. This position may require occasional work on-site for some of the scheduled work week. Remote work will require reliable internet access and a suitable private workspace free from distractions. This position has an end date of 8/31/2026, but may be renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward goals.
PurposeThe Supervisor, Behavioral Health Outreach will play a crucial role in developing and implementing outreach, external training, stakeholder engagement, referrals, and educational programs aimed at promoting mental health awareness and enhancing mental health literacy among frontline pediatric and perinatal care providers, as well as other community stakeholders. Experience in clinical mental health and medical expertise will be instrumental in delivering evidence-based content, outreach, and support.
Responsibilities- Leads the development, planning, and implementation of program and outreach strategies to ensure alignment with legislative, institutional, and departmental goals. Oversees the creation of policies, workflows, dashboards, training materials, and promotional assets to support clinical and operational effectiveness. Actively manages and supervises staff, providing regular feedback, mentorship, and support to promote professional growth and team effectiveness. Participates in supervision activities and quality assurance checks to ensure high standards of performance.
Offers consultation across teams as needed to foster collaboration and maintain program integrity. - Represents CPAN, PeriPAN, Safety-A, and associated Consortium programs in various capacities, including tabling, resource fairs, meetings, events, and workshops. Engages with key external stakeholders across the medical, non-profit, government, and educational sectors to promote program visibility and collaboration. Serves as a representative in inter-departmental and inter-institutional engagements and site visits to strengthen partnerships and support program initiatives. Conducts outreach by visiting medical offices (including but not limited to Pediatricians, OBGYNs, Family Medicine).
Delivers presentations in collaboration with clinical providers, supporting program awareness and education. Assists with scheduling faculty, clinicians, and staff for outreach-related events, workshops, and meetings. - Oversees and monitors all outreach projects to ensure consistency, effectiveness, and alignment with legislative mandates and institutional goals. Evaluates outreach practices and program strategies through data review and performance measurement, generating insights and comprehensive reports to inform strategic decision-making. Maintains accurate and timely documentation of outreach activities and data to support reporting, auditing, and continuous improvement efforts.
