Job Summary
The post holder will be responsible for providing top‑quality outputs from existing and new data sources in the form of reporting, dashboards, and user‑accessed tools. The post holder will design, develop, implement, and support key intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI). The role requires the use of descriptive and analytical statistical techniques, including advanced Excel formulae, several times a month. The post holder will influence managers and clinicians using narrative and graphic tools that explain the data and its consequences.
The post holder will provide assurance performance reporting to both internal and external stakeholders, flagging areas of recognition or concern and ensuring a robust process of validation and reporting in line with agreed timescales. Performance support to colleagues across operational and corporate services will be provided to maintain compliance with achievement of all key targets. Finally, the post holder will openly engage and exchange information with other colleagues in the Contracts Performance and CQUIN Team to promote joint work and sharing of best practice.
Duties of the Job
The post holder will have expert technical specialist knowledge of information systems, including in‑depth knowledge of NHS data definitions, clinical terminology, and coding systems. This includes a thorough understanding of current NHS issues and the role of information in this context. The post holder will possess expert skills in complex data extraction from the Trust's information databases, using SQL and manipulating complex data sets from the Business Intelligence warehouse at an advanced level.
The post holder will have knowledge of statistical techniques and will ensure a robust process of validation and reporting in line with defined and agreed timescales.
- The post holder will lead the development and delivery of a suite of timely and accurate performance reports for all levels of the organisation as directed by the Performance Manager. This includes working directly with managers and clinicians to establish appropriate data capture and information reporting methods.
- The post holder will present performance information suitable for the intended audience and proactively support the delivery of targets through targeted action planning and development of improvement trajectories.
