Position: Team Manager - Adult Autism Team - Part time 22 hours per week

Part-time Team Manager, 22.2 hours per week, is an exciting opportunity to join our busy Adult Autism Team across the Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole (BCP) locality. We are a supportive and collaborative team that provides training and development to excel, with a strong emphasis on continual professional development and wellbeing across our workforce.

What We’re Looking For
  • We are looking for a Team Manager from within Adult Social Care, or an aspiring senior Social Worker with management and supervisory experience, to join our Adult Autism Team and help us achieve our vision for adults with Autism and their families in Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Council.
  • Applicants must have recent experience of working in an adult social care setting with direct contact with the public, and knowledge of working with people with Autism or a passion for improving their lives.
  • Valid driving licence and access to a car.
What You Can Expect To Be Doing
  • Manage the day-to-day running of the Team
  • Provide formal and ad hoc practice supervision
  • Deputise for the Service Manager as required to ensure continuity and efficient delivery of the service
  • Contribute to raising and maintaining professional social work standards
  • Support the Service Manager in developing the Autism Service to improve the lives of autistic adults and their families
  • Handle a small caseload of complex work
  • Undertake the Three Conversations Model for BCP residents aged 18 and over with an Autism Spectrum Condition
  • Work across Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole; based at Bournemouth Civic Centre with flexible work across locations and home working
  • Support and enable people to minimise dependence and maximise independence through strength-based, self-directed support, commissioning, monitoring, and reviewing to meet identified goals
Joining Our Team

The specialist team includes a Service Manager, a Team Manager, three Qualified Social Workers and three Care Managers. We work closely with Learning Disability, Preparing for Adulthood and Community Mental Health teams to meet the holistic needs of our adults.

BCP Council has multiple Social Work teams across specialist areas, including Adults and Older People’s Mental Health, Preparing for Adulthood Services, Learning Disability Services, Autism services, Forensic, Assertive Outreach and Community Rehabilitation Teams. Applicants must hold the necessary professional qualification and be registered with Social Work England to practice as a Social Worker in the UK.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in a specialist service with knowledge of applying the Care Act.
