Overview
East Midlands Children and Young Peoples Sexual Assault Service (EMCYPSAS) Crisis Support Worker – 37.5 hours per week – £26,560 per annum – Permanent. Employed by Notts SVS Services, working in partnership with Nottingham University Hospitals Trust. This role provides crisis support to children, young people and their families accessing services at the Nottinghamshire Hub of EMCYPSAS and across the East Midlands.
The Crisis Support Worker will deliver sensitive, client-centered, non-judgmental support to survivors aged 17 and under, including advocacy support during forensic medical examinations.
- Work as part of the first response team of clinicians, forensic physicians, police officers and the EMCYPSAS management team to deliver a high standard of service for clients referred by the Police or who self-refer.
- Be responsible for thorough forensic cleaning of the forensic suite following a forensic medical examination.
- Provide cover for EMCYPSAS helpline and email contacts, acting as a first point of contact, answering calls and responding to emails, providing information and support on sexual violence to clients, families, carers and professionals who call the helpline or email, and respond to the needs of self-referring clients.
- Be up to date with and follow safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring clients are referred to appropriate safeguarding agencies and that internal reporting procedures are followed in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team.
- Evidence of relevant professional experience working with children and young people (CYP) in a supporting role.
- Knowledge of issues experienced by children and young people, particularly in relation to sexual violence and safeguarding.
- Experience of working in a multi-agency setting and in partnership with a wide range of statutory and voluntary agencies.
- Attendance at CYP safeguarding training (face-to-face or online) within the last 2 years and a clear understanding of safeguarding issues, policies and procedures.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Experience of working with children and young people in a supportive capacity.
- Flexibility to work a combination of shifts totaling 37.5 hours per week.
- Experience of working in a multi-agency setting and partnerships with a wide range of statutory and voluntary agencies.
- Clear understanding of safeguarding.
- On-call availability: able to be on site at Coral Cove QMC within 45 minutes of a call when on-call.
- Probationary period applies.
- Salary: £26,560 per annum, with an additional £62 per on-call shift (Mon-Fri) and £70 per on-call shift on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays, with yearly cost of living increase where applicable.
- Hours:
37.5 hours per week. Minimum of 4 shifts per week, including evening on-call and weekend shifts. Shifts will be agreed in advance monthly to cover the 24/7 rota and will include a variety of shifts throughout the week, including:- 09:00–19:00, Monday–Friday (Coral Cove QMC Based)
- 09:00–17:00, Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays (Coral Cover QMC)
- Sleeping overnight on-call: 19:00–09:00 (Mon–Fri) and 17:00–09:00 (Sat, Sun and Bank Holidays) (home-based and Coral Cover QMC for examinations)
