A revitalised sense of focus and energy is taking our Adult Services in an exciting direction, and we want you to help us to make the changes we know are needed. We need a qualified, energetic and resilient Operational Leader (Senior Social Worker) to help us achieve our aims.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a suitably qualified Senior Social Worker as an Operational Leader to be based in the Review Team, Beverley. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Social Worker to take a proactive role, expanding and developing their skills; and to take the next step in their professional career within a well-established Local Authority.

The Review Team covers the whole of the East Riding of Yorkshire, as well as supporting in care homes outside the area. The team also completes focused work, such as care home closures.

Responsibilities

The role of Operational Leader (Senior Social Worker) is to work as an autonomous professional, demonstrating expert and effective practice in complex situations. This will include supporting the team to manage reviews of care packages funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council using a strengths-based approach to ensure that the care provided continues to meet people’s needs.

The role will also include auditing and approving work, such as care and support plans and Section 42 safeguarding enquiries. The Operational Leader (Senior Social Worker) will be responsible for attending and chairing meetings with the Review Team, Providers and Partners.

The focus will be on supporting and enabling people to actively stay well and independent, build and maintain family and social networks whilst working to protect people from harm. The role will be active in supporting another Operational Leader (Senior Social Worker) in the management of the Review Team with the daily operational functions as well as working collaboratively with partners.

You will be responsible for the formal supervision of qualified Social Work staff, as well as supporting attendance management and addressing People Services matters in accordance with relevant policies and procedures. This will be in addition to giving expert knowledgeable advice and guidance regarding safeguarding matters to the team on a daily basis.

Qualifications

You must be a registered Social Worker with extensive experience of working in adult social care settings. You must demonstrate a good knowledge of the Care Act (2014) and ability to work within the legislative framework of the Mental Capacity Act (2005), Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and the Human Rights Act (1998). Knowledge of safeguarding adults and working within safeguarding procedures is key to this role.
