DOC Part-Time Mental Health Counselor SW/C II (Remote)
Position is part-time, primarily remote, with occasional onsite requirements.
Location:
Remote / Colorado state.
Who may apply:
Colorado residents only.
Provide after‑hours mental health crisis services to inmates statewide via telehealth, offer consultation to correctional staff and administrators, and ensure continuity of care for inmates with special needs.
Responsibilities- Deliver advanced practice, telehealth mental health services at an advanced level to inmates with mental illness.
- Collaborate with staff regarding inmate mental health needs after normal business hours.
- Maintain accurate mental health needs coding in the information system.
- Arrange emergency and non‑emergency transfers for inmates with acute mental health needs.
- Provide clinical direction to non‑clinical staff and ensure continuity of care.
- Document clinical care electronically in a timely and comprehensive manner.
- Monitor inmate treatment, listen to concerns, and provide counseling and direction.
- Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or marriage and family therapy from an accredited institution.
- Current, valid license or permit from Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (e.g., Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Psychologist).
- Master's or doctoral degree from an accredited program (CACREP, CSWE, AAMFT, APA).
- License eligible for L.P.C., L.C.S.W., L.M.F.T., or Licensed Psychologist.
- Experience providing mental health treatment in a correctional environment.
- Professional mental health treatment for inmates.
- Efficient, reliable and compliant with 24‑hour on‑call rotation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Independent work and team collaboration across facilities and external agencies.
- Maintained registration/license per assignment.
- Ability to work with a diverse population of inmates.
- Proficiency in comprehensive clinical documentation and use of plain language guidelines.
- Entry level, part‑time, salary: $70,500–$73,750 per year.
