- Coordinate and oversee the flow of medical record coded information for billing and reimbursement
- Ensure completeness, accuracy, and timely submission of all medical data for inpatient and outpatient encounters
- Act as a liaison for the coding reimbursement process within the department
- Assess, design, and evaluate educational programs aimed at enhancing documentation quality
- Provide guidance and support to providers and coding staff on coding and documentation practices
- Associate's degree in Medical Record Sciences with certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
- Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems
- Minimum of five (5) years of inpatient coding experience
- Experience in a Level 1 trauma facility is preferred
- Additional experience in coding education or training
- Familiarity with healthcare billing and reimbursement processes
- Strong analytical skills related to coding accuracy and compliance
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems
