About UsOur busy Histopathology department provides essential diagnostic services to the Trust and surrounding community areas. We offer a comprehensive range of tissue analysis to aid in accurate diagnoses, ensuring the best outcomes for patients attending the Trust, General Practice, or private clinics. Our services also play a crucial role in cancer screening programmes.
Your RoleAs a Medical Laboratory Assistant Supervisor, you will support our registered Biomedical Scientists and be an integral part of our team. This role also includes supervision and support of our MLA Team.

Contractual Requirements- Full time working hours (37.5 hours per week) working 5 out of 7 days
- Detailed knowledge of Pathology Tests and Services
- Knowledge and use of data systems
- Clear understanding of the practical aspects of Histological Laboratory Processes
- Knowledge of Scientific Terminology
- Wide Knowledge of NHS Services
- HNC or equivalent or
- NVQ Level 3 in Clinical Laboratory Support or equivalent, plus extensive experience
- Minimum 4 GCSEs or equivalent to grade 4 or above
- IT Qualification
- Appropriate supervisory course
- High levels of accuracy
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to contribute to effective team working
- Ability to organise and delegate workload effectively to meet required deadlines
- Internal supervisory training within a year
- Sickness Management Training
- Basic Human Resource courses. (Discipline, Recruitment, diversity etc).
- nternal Training and experience For Cellular pathology techniques (Equivalent to NVQ
3)
- Experience as an advanced MLA in a Histopathology Department
- Previous or current organisational and supervisory experience
- Experience in Histological techniques
- Previous experience in tissue embedding and section cutting (microtomy)
