Medical Insurance Collections Specialist

We are currently seeking a Medical Insurance Collections Specialist (part-time). This position is responsible for providing comprehensive reimbursement services, including intake or newly referred accounts/patients, in a manner that ensures the company receives appropriate reimbursement for authorized services provided to patients.

This specialist will interact with the owners on a daily basis, case managers, third-party administrators, payer representatives, attorneys, and patients.

We are looking for a hardworking individual with a desire for development and retention. This position requires an independent self-starter who takes initiative, and has the ability to make decisions efficiently and take responsibility for them. There is a strong demand for productive, organized, and high-quality results.

• Complete daily operations of billing for clinic
• Follow up on all claims, denials in timely fashion
• Research denied claims and report results to owners
• Reprint / rebill claims to insurances
• Initiate and track appeals
• Maintain internal logs, produce reports / regular communication with owners
• Patient collections / make phone calls to non-payment accounts
• Process medical record charges

• High school diploma or equivalent;
• 2+ years applicable industry experience
• Proficient in reimbursement principles, medical terminology, payer groups, and networks, including Medicare Advantage, worker’s compensation, liability insurance and private insurance.
• Experience with physical therapy billing is essential.
• Proficient to include web/internet search, MS Outlook, Word, and Excel. Technical competence includes the ability to learn new software and systems.
• Relevant experience typically includes intake, medical insurance/billing/reimbursements, ideally in a PT setting—previous experience working with iSALUS EHR software highly desired.

Range $18 - $25 an hour (dependent on experience)

Part-time:
Monday-Friday / Day shift (9am-3pm; 25-30 hours/week)

• Customer service: 1 year (preferred)
• Degree in Health Information Management (preferred) /OR a Certificate in Medical Billing (highly preferred)
• Prior out-patient physical therapy billing experience (preferred)
