Avela Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced psychologist with expertise in conducting neurodiversity-affirming autism diagnostic evaluations through a virtual platform. The diagnostician may specialize in diagnostic evaluations for young children, for school-aged children, for teens, and/or for adults. The ideal candidate will work with clients in a collaborative manner that emphasizes strengths and be skilled in differential diagnoses including but not limited to ADHD, depression, anxiety, and bi-polar disorder.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide virtual, comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for children, youth, and/or adults who are questioning autism or who have been referred for an autism diagnostic evaluation.
  • Deliver services via telehealth, ensuring accessibility, flexibility, and consistent engagement with families.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary remote team, maintaining clear communication and cooperation to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Provide psychoeducation regarding autism from a neurodiversity-affirming perspective
  • Provide recommendations that are strength-based and tailored to the unique needs of each client
Qualifications
  • Licensed as a psychologist in one or more states
  • Documented experience in conducting diagnostic evaluations from a neurodiversity-affirmative perspective
  • Proficiency in delivering services via telehealth platforms.
  • Strong skills in conducting developmental and diagnostic interviews from a strengths-based perspective
  • Experience conducting behavioral observations via telehealth including roleplays as appropriate
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a remote, team-based environment.
  • Commitment to a family-centered, strengths-based approach to supporting autistic individuals and their families.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Holds certification from PsyPACT (APIT)
  • Background in behavior therapy/cognitive-behavior therapy
  • Expertise in working with autistic individuals in a therapeutic context
